A former employee of the Palmer Journal, Pete Engquist, 75, passed away August 7th in a Fremont hospital after being in failing health for five years.

Mr. Engquist was born January 9, 1896 at Palmer, the son of Swan and Mathilda Engquist and was married to Anna Marie Speck on February 3, 1915 in York. Mrs. Engquist passed away March 9, 1970 in Fremont where they had made their home since 1928. He was a member of the Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont and had served with the Nebraska National Guard.

Survivors include seven sons, Oliver of Oklahoma City, Wesley of Hardington, Texas, Donald of Fremont, Calvin, Spencer and Leslie, all of Omaha and Delbert of Columbus; a foster son, Truman of Fremont; five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Stoltenberg of Cedar Bluffs, Mrs. Mildred Cunningham of Omaha, Mrs., Bernice Buis of Lincoln, Mrs. Gertrude Frizzell of Fremont and Mrs. Mayetta Edson of Parsons, Kansas; a foster daughter, Sp/5 Susan Engquist, Stuttgart, Germany, a brother, Frank Engquist of Ft. Morgan, Colorado; 28 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
