Daughter of Archibald Armstrong and Elizabeth "Betsey" McCutcheon Armstrong;

Granddaughter of William Augustus Armstrong and Margaret "Peggy" Jameson and of Joseph R. McCutcheon and Nancy Youell McCutcheon;

Sister of Joseph Armstrong, Rachel Armstrong (Mrs. Russell Newman Wallace), William Armstrong (Wife, Cynthia Alberta Hunter Armstrong), Elizabeth "Lizzie" Armstrong, James Armstrong, Margaret Ann Armstrong (Mrs. William Kerr Wallace), Archibald Thomas Armstrong (Wife, Martha Jane "Mattie" Firebaugh) and Virginia Armstrong;

Beloved Wife of John Paul Cook, whom she married on 13 October 1859 in Augusta County;

Loving Mother of Thomas Armstrong Cook (March 1861-April 1861), Elizabeth Margaret "Bettie" Cook (1861-1943) and William Armstrong Cook (1864-1902).

John Paul Cook passed away in 1871, leaving Mary Elizabeth with two small children to raise.

On December 23, 1875, Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Cook married James Lindsay in Kerrs Creek, Rockbridge, Virginia.
James owned a "fine farm of 220 acres in Kerrs Creek District, near Alone, Rockbridge County, which is his post office address". Mary Elizabeth and James would raise her two children together, along with their own son.

Mary and James are the parents of son Barton Lindsay, born in October 1876.

James Lindsay passed away in 1915, leaving their son, Barton Lindsay, to manage the farm property. Mary continued to live with her son Barton and his wife, Mattie and their daughter Carlos Lindsay.

Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Cook Lindsay..... Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and Friend.

She passed away on January 12, 1929, and is fondly remembered by all of the families who have shared their stories through the years.
