Mrs. Flora Davis, widow of J. McCan Davis, died Monday noon in a Chicago hospital, after a month's illness, of nephritis. Mrs. Davis was the widow of J. McCan Davis, for many years a well known newspaperman of this city. He was for nearly twenty-five years correspondent fof the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, was for a time part owner and editor of the Springfield Evening News, clerk of the supreme court from 1909 to 1915, and a candidate for congressman-at-large on the republican ticket in 1914. He was also at one time owner of the Capitol Engraving company and published a magazine. Since his death in the spring of 1915, his widow has resided in Chicago.

The remains arrived in the city at 10:20 o'clock last night on the Chicago & Alton and were taken to the undertaking establishment of Thomas C. Smith's Sons. The funeral services will be held at Oak Ridge cemetery at 10:30 o'clock this morning at the grave of her husband, beside whom she will be buried. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Father Edward Haughton, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church. IL State Register, Springfield, IL 9-25-1918
