William (1793-1872) and Elizabeth Jane (Bates) McLane, (1804-1881) the latter a native of Tennessee. His mother’s death occurred in 1874 in Talladega and his father William McLane died in 1872 in Calhoun County, Alabama. They are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega, Talladega County, AL.

William McLane was a North Carolinian, who came early to Alabama and settled in Limestone County, where he married Elizabeth Jane Bates. In 1834 he removed to Talladega, where he resided for a time. William McLane was a stanch Democrat, and during his life had at one time served as county coroner. Both William and Elizabeth McLane were members of the Methodist Episcopal church, and they had eight children, only two were living in 1903.
