In the 1880 census of St Mary Parish (Ward 5) {Mary} Alice was with husband Ernest and children Bessie 4, Emily D. 2 & B Ernest 3/12. Daughter Evline 5 was enumerated with Mrs C M Bowman 56 also St Mary. In the 1900 census Alice (47) is found in Iberia Par., Jeanerette (Ward 8) with Bessie 23, Bernard 20 and Kate 15 also boarders T W Moore 51 & William Toland 34 {Alice was known to house boarders to help support the family after her husband died.
The 1910 census finds Alice 57 back in Berwick, St Mary Parish with daughter Kate 25 & 6L}. By 1930 at age 77 Alice was living with her daughter Emily B Provost in New Iberia and then she moved to Kerrville Texas with her daughter Evelyn Domingues where she passed in 1941.

She married Charles Louis Provost, 27 Oct 1897. She resided 112 Bridge St in New Iberia LA. Her DAR membership number was 18991 June 12, 1923.

She was named for Cathrine (Kate) Bowman Downing, Dr Isac Bowman's sister who lived in Kentucky - Kate's grand aunt (tradition said she was named for an aunt). She had daughter Kitty Reed Stagg Buswell with 2 children, Joe lived in LA.
