Goldie Sawilowsky Ungar born January 1, 1926, she was the first baby born in 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana, died on Monday October 12, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ungar and a son Howard Lee Ungar. Mrs. Ungar was a board member of Congregation Ahavas Chesed Synagogue, President of Ahavas Chesed Sisterhood, Hadassah but she was most avid supporter of USA Basketball. She was a recipient of USA National Alumni Association Service Award. She was a past board member of USA Jaguar Athletics Heart of Gold. Survivors include her children, Audrey U. (Max) Goldberg and Hope U. (Alan) Goldin, her three granddaughters, Sarah G. (Will) Lien, Ellen Goldberg and Stacey Goldin, two grandsons, Jason (Alina) Goldin and Scott Goldin, her beloved friend and family member Margaret Leggett her loving friends and caregivers, Anna Anthony and Janice Thompson and the Nurses of the Heart Failure Clinic. A special thanks to Dr. James Walker and his entire staff, Dr. Jack DiPalma, Dr. William Lightfoot, Dr. Norman Lichtenfeld, Dr. Amy Morris and Dr. William Higgs. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 4:00 pm from the Graveside. Burial will be in Congregation Ahavas Chesed Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Congregation Ahavas Chesed or the University of South Alabama Athletic Department. Arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin St., Ext., Mobile, AL 36606.

Mrs. Goldie S. Ungar - Funeral services were held on Wednesday October 14, 2009 from the graveside at 4:00 pm. Officiating was Rabbi Steven Silberman. Honoaray Pallbearers were, Joe Schwartz, Norman Berger, Joe Gottfried, Irving Silver, Mark Berkin and Lee Mishkin. Active Pallbearers were, Ronnie Arrow, Butch Blum, Scott Goldin, Will Lien, Lee Sands, Stanley Ungar, Randy Ungar, Jack DiPalma, Jimmy Walker and Steve Forwood. Burial was in Congregation Ahavas Chesed Cemetery. Arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME 3155 Dauphin Street Mobile, Al 36606.
