Walter A. Phelps. 87, retired furniture man residing at 1911 Brackenridge Street, died in a local hospital Monday. He had lived in Austin for the past 15 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lattie Eula Phelps; one son, E. H. Phelps of Portland, Ore.; five daughters. Mrs. Sue Carlson of Austin, Mrs. Belle Froelich of Houston, Mrs. Pauline Ford of Waco, Mrs. Faye Ruth Yancey of Sendia, Japan, and Mrs. Nancy Jane Dieter of Hillsboro, one brother, Slayton Phelps of Dripping Spring, and five sisters. Mrs. Joe Johnson and Mrs. Rex Taylor of Bellwiew, Mrs. Gro-ver Skldmore and Mrs. Rov Porter of Wichita Falls, and Mrs. Cliff Ware of St. Jo, Texas. Funeral services will be held at th? First Baptist Church at 3 p. m. Wednesday with the Rev. Carlyle Marney officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p. m. until funeral time. Burial will be in Memorial Park under the direction of the Hyltin-Manor Funeral home.
