Aellene Wayland Kirkpatrick, 79, passed away quietly at her home on Monday, October 5, 2009, after a long illness. She resided at 3228 Carlton Drive in Thousand Oaks, California at the time of her death.
Born October 17, 1929 to Dr. Clyde Wayland and Ada Beatrice Attebury Wayland in San Jose, Aellene made California her home for life. Active in school, she was extremely popular. A really swell gal! She graduated high school in 1947 and breezed through the nursing program at St. Joseph College of Nursing.
She married and started her family soon after. In 1961, they moved to Thousand Oaks, where she would make her home for the next 48 years. Aellene was a single mom. She taught her daughters independence, the importance of a decent education and a game plan, and how to make a great potato salad! Known to her friends as "Kirk", she last worked at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks as a registered nurse, until retirement in 1995.
Aellene is survived by her four daughters and their families: Kathy and Al Fierro of Barstow, Janet Beattie of Los Angeles, Erin and John Bishop of Thousand Oaks, Kellie and Joe Glass Jr. of Pearland, Texas. Also left behind to grieve are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Joy and James Lanford (Clayton, London, Ashton), Christina Fierro (Elishah), Melissa Fierro; Robert Beattie, Kevin and Tiffany Beattie (Austin, Mykaela); Jennifer and Jeff Murray, David Bishop; Jesse Glass, Daniel Glass.
Well try not to be too sad, though well miss you so very much. Rest peacefully with the angels and watch over us. Until we meet again Mom, we love you and thank you for all your support and sacrifice over the years. You did a real good job. No one could ask for more!
Interment will be held at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village on Friday, November 20, 2009.
