Johann (John) Schlobohm arrived in America by 1836.He was recruited for the Army of the Republic of Texas in New Orleans on March 15,1836.He served in the Zavalla Guards, 2nd Regiment Volunteer infantry,commanded by Captain King . His unit was stationed at Galveston before the Battle of San Jacinto.Immediately afterwards,his company was assigned as guard over the Texian prisoner,General Santa Anna.Schlobohm also served the Texian Army in Company D, First Regiment, Permanent Volunteers,from April 27,1836 to November 25,1837 and was entitled to several land grants for his service.To recognize his war service,the Daughters of the Republic of Texas placed a "Veteran of the Texas Revolutionary War" medallion on John Schlobohm's tombstone.The new madallion was dedicated on May 4,1991,during an annual Schlobohm family reunion.

Johann (John) Schlobohm married Charlotte Caroline Kleibrink on May 2, 1850 in the home of his neighbor and army calleague Peter Dykeman in Harris County.Eight children were born to this marriage.
