WAVERLY - Mary Margaret Brackett passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at home. on October 21, 2009.

Mary Margaret was born to Oren W. Stults and Margaret Fern (Patton) Stults. She married I. Wayne Brackett on July 14, 1949.

In addition to her family, Mary is survived by countless friends. An outgoing and sociable person, Mary made friends easily and was loved by many. She married a pastor, and was involved with his churches in several states. After retiring, Mary became a member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church and thoroughly enjoyed her latest spiritual home.

Mary loved to laugh, loved to be on the go, and loved people. She was very family oriented and delighted in spoiling her beloved husband, Wayne. Music was an integral part of her life, including playing the piano and singing in the church. Her involvement with the church started early, as she accompanied her Aunt Mabel to revival meetings as a child. It continued through her life as a pastor's wife in churches in Tuscola, Ashland, Marissa, Illinois, then on to Michigan and Ohio, and back to Toulon, Atwood and Waverly, Illinois.

Mary and Wayne were involved in pastoral ministries for 44 years. The last chapter in Mary's spiritual life was as an appreciative and devoted member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church, where she thankfully enjoyed her Kingdom Builders Sunday school class and all their many activities.

In addition to her church activities, Mary loved to sew. She hated to darn socks but did it anyway. She had a very creative side which showed in her sewing, her crocheting, decorating her home and her flowers.

Mrs. Brackett is survived by her husband, Rev. I Wayne Brackett. Also surviving are two sons, Stephen (wife, Cherri) Brackett of Kewanee, Illinois, and Mark (wife, Gayle) Brackett of Princeville, Illinois; six grandchildren, Traci (husband Jerome) Toohill of Clinton, Illinois, Ben Brackett of Kewanee, Illinois, David Brackett of Denver, Colorado, Paul Brackett of Peoria, Illinois, Elizabeth Brackett of Princeville, Illinois, and Jacob Brackett of Princeville, Illinois; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Audrey Toohill of Clinton, Illinois. Mary is also survived by a brother, Kenneth (wife, Ruth) Stults; and a sister, Gwendolyn Stults; two sisters-in-law, Betty Rowland and Opal Brackett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents; one sister, Helen Blackburn; and two brothers-in-law, Dallas Blackburn and Art Rowland, preceded her in death.

Mary will be missed by many.
