Juanita "Pooch" Derreberry, 93, of Andrews died Friday, May 29, 2009 in an Andrews care center. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late William and Abbie Adams Pullium and the wife of the late Clyde Christopher Derreberry, who died Dec. 26, 1990. She retired after working for 18 years from Owenby Manufacturing and she was a member of the Valley River Baptist Church.
Surviving are two caregivers and loving neighbors, Ron and Vickie Hicks; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 1 in the Valley River Baptist Church with the Revs. Roy Phillips, Roy Brown, and Harold Pullium officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were John David Hyde, Danny Derreberry, and Carl, Woodrow, Earl, and Dean Pullium. Honorary pallbearers were Dale Pullium and Giles Adams.
The family received friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews where the body was until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services. The family was at the home of Mrs. Derreberry on Fairview Road in Andrews.
