Catherine was the daughter of Valentine "Felty" Showalter (b. abt 1736 in Switzerland) and Anna whose last name might have been Funk. He was a weaver by trade and served in the Revolutionary War as a private under Captains Israel Moore and David Wilson. Catherine's siblings were Mary,, John, Valentine, Joseph, Jacob, Nancy (MEMORIAL ID 28254988) , Susannah, and possibly another brother Christopher.
