On Sun. Town Newton resident Paul Szukalski was returning home with his wife from a trip to Manitowoc when his horse shied and bolted in the vicinity of the bridge over Pine Creek. The bridge has no rails and the horse leaped into the 20-ft. deep ravine and the sleigh overturned. Mrs. Szukalski was unhurt, but her husband unfortunately broke his neck and died within a few minutes.

Paul Szukalski, aged seventy-five, a prominent farmer near Manitowoc, was killed Sunday, while driving home from church, by his horse and cutter going over a twelve-foot embankment, breaking the man's neck.
