Mary was born on 5 April 1756 in the County of Fife, Scotland to parents Andrew Glass and Janet Gibb. They emmigrated to the U.S. and settled eventually in Butler County, Pennsylvania. She was baptised on 8 April 1756 at St. Andrew's and St. Leonard's in Fife.
Mary married George Brown in 1775 in Butler County, Pa. They would have 6 children together: Ann, William, James, Mary Jane, John Glass and Margaret.
Mary died on 26 March 1810 in Middlesex Township, Butler County, Pa. and is laid to rest along side her husband George in Middlesex United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Middlesex Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
