AUGUSTA, Ga.- Entered into rest Sunday, March 7, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital, Mrs. Ruby Newsome Blackwell of Larks Court, Augusta. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Poteet Funeral Home West Chapel with Rev. Mark Harris officiating.
Pallbearers will be Richard Fulmer, Dennis Hobbs, Ken Joiner, Charles Newsome, Phil Newsome and Shayne Woods. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. Blackwell is survived by a son, Samuel L. Blackwell and wife, Janet of Augusta; three grandchildren, Jody Myers Duffield, Va., James Blackwell of North Augusta, S.C., Kaitlyn Blackwell of Augusta, one great-grandson; her brothers, Wilber Newsome, Sandersville, John Newsome of Wrightsville, Vernon Newsome and Lewis Newsome of Warrenton; sisters, Edna Hobbs of Martinez and Jean Shirley of Sandersville; numerous nieces and nephews and a very special close friend, Luci lle Wilson of Augusta. Mrs. Blackwell was a native of Warren County, but had lived in Augusta many years. She was retired from Western Sizzlin, Inc. where she worked as the Franchise Director for many years. She was a member of Curtis Baptist Church.
