Carrie Lenora Gardner was born on 02 May 1887 in Deposit, Delaware Co, NY, the second of seven children to bless the marriage of Samuel Rose Gardner and Mary Amelia Fuller.

She married Mr. Vernon Lake Roberts on 27 Sep 1914 in Oneonta, Otsego Co, NY the son of Jeremiah R. and Catharine Roberts.

Vernon L. Roberts and Miss Carrie Gardner, both of this city, were united in marriage, Saturday evening at the First Baptist parsonage by Rev. E. J. Farley. They will reside at 107 Elm street. Mr. Roberts is a well known mason and Mrs. Roberts, who is a native of Deposit is a sister of Mrs. Carson of Chestnut street.

Vernon and Carrie had five children: Marian Catherine, Vernon Russell, Marshall Earl, and twins Doris E. and Dorman E.

Carrie died Friday, 14 Dec 1923 in Oneonta, Otsego Co, NY, aged 36 years, 7 months and 12 days; leaving Vernon with three toddlers and nine month old twins.

MRS. CARRIE GARDNER ROBERTS.

Carrie Gardner Roberts, beloved wife of Vernon L. Roberts, died at the family home at 16 Eighth street late Friday evening following an illness of about three weeks, during which several complications developed. Private funeral services were held from the home on Monday at 2 o'clock, with Rev. E. J. Farley officiating.

Carrie L. Gardner was born at Deposit, May 2, 1887; the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Gardner. Her early life was spent there. She was united in marriage with Vernon L. Roberts in September, 1914, and besides her parents and husband, she is survived by five children, Marian, Vernon R., Marshall, and Dorman and Doris, twins, only nine months old, both of whom are ill; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Carson and Miss Reva L. Gardner of Deposit, and Mrs. F. Guy Constable of Unadilla, and four brothers, Dr. M. E. Gardner, Paul K. Gardner, and George F. Gardner of Niagara Falls, and Gaydon F. [Graydon L.] Gardner of Deposit.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Baptist church of Deposit, and a lovely character. To her family the sympathy of a host of friends in this city and Deposit will be extended. Her loss is the first break in the family.
