Mary Robinson, the ninth child of Peter Robinson, Sr. and second wife Experience Lumbert, was baptized at Norwich, Conn. Aug. 26, 1711. In circa 1710 her parents relocated from Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard, Mass. to or near Norwich, Conn. It is believed that their first residence in Connecticut was in the so-called Long Ecclesiastial Soc. east of Norwich where records are very scant. That society later became part of Preston, Conn.

On Oct. 29, 1747 at the Scotland Society church, then in Windham, Conn., Mary married John Johnson. Mary Robinson and her husband settled at Willington, Conn. where they had two known children. The Willington, Conn. vital records say Mary (Robinson) Johnson d. at Willington Jan. 9, 1781. Whether there is a surviving gravestone at Willington is presently unknown.

The children of Mary Robinson and John Johnson, both recorded at Willington, Conn., are:

• i. Mary Johnson, b. Feb. 17, 1748/9; d. unmarried at Willington Feb. 19, 1776, Æ. 28.

• ii. Ruth Johnson, b. Apr. 20, 1750, d. Dec. 25, 1837 at Brownington, VT; m. Sept. 18, 1770 at Willington, her cousin Benjamin Robinson, Jr., s. of Benjamin Robinson and Jerusha Bingham. He was b. Apr. 24, 1749 at Lebanon, Conn. and d. Mar. 5, 1833 at Brownington, VT. Eight children of the family, who through their paternal grandmother, Jerusha (Bingham) Robinson, are descendants of Gov. William Bradford of the Plymouth Colony and 1620 passage of the Mayflower to America.
