My Grandmother, Alma Rochelle Walker Bishop was born in Aucilla, Florida on December 07, 1902 - She had an older Sister, Amanda -Grandmother would marry quite early in life to Grandfather Will Bishop, who was also born in Aucilla in December 1893 - Grandmother was a very petite woman all of her life - She had two Children, My Dad, Willie, in 1921 and Uncle 'Buddy' the following year - They would eventually move to Valdosta - Dad would meet My Mom there and they would wed in 1939 - Grandmother turned 39 years on December 7, 1941 the day of the Pearl Harbor bombing - She was feisty and spoke her mind as she felt like it - Some of the things I remember most about her was how she was always dressed up wearing make-up and having her hair done and always wore high heel shoes (probably because she was just 4'11") - She eventually checked herself into a retirement home in Valdosta when she was in her 80's - Holly Hill - they were good to Grandmother especially since Amanda was also living there after she became quite feeble - Grandmother outlived her Husband, My Dad and My Uncle - also a Grandson and a Great-Grandson - She was almost 92 years old when her heart just gave out - We miss her and love her very much -
