BERT POWELL
Funeral services were held Thursday for Bert Powell, 89 of Illinois City who died Monday, Dec. 24, 1962 at the Riverview Heights Nursing Home in Muscatine where he had been staying for several years.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. at the Whittich Funeral Home in Muscatine with the Rev. Herbert Beuoy, pastor of the Illinois City Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Prairie cemetery.
Mr. Powell was born November 6, 1873 in Illinois City. He was a son of William and Nancy Hessman Powell.
He had resided at Illinois City all his life and was a farmer. He never married.
Survivors include a number of cousins.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Vanatta.
