Emogene Ely was born April 26, 1929 in Muldrow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Willie Butler and Elvira Daws Butler. She was married to Haskell Ely on January 3, 1946 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1972. Mrs. Ely passed this life on October 30, 2009 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma after having attained the age of 80 years, 6 months and 4 days.
Survivors are three granddaughters, Mari Jones and husband, Wesley of Prairie Grove, Ark., Crystal West of Prairie Grove, Ar. and Ashley West and boyfriend, Kevin Vanterpool of Muldrow, Ok.; eight great grandchildren, Emilie West, Shannon Goodwin, Lofton and Kortland Knauls, Kyndal Vanterpool, Brandon, Tyler and Levi Jones; one great-great grandchild, Kendal Jones; one sister, Cleo Russell of Muldrow, Ok. and a host of friends that she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Haskell Ely; parents; one son, Billy Ray Ely; one daughter, Marla West;
one sister, Jewel Vernon and two brothers, Clarence and Jack Butler.
