Deceased was a citizen of Cedar County for many years, having settled here in 1841 and remained continuously until a few years ago, when he went to live with his brother, Daniel Hancock, at North Robinson. He was born in Armstrong County, PA in 1818, but left there at an early age and resided in Crawford County, OH, until his removal to Iowa. He was married in 1839 and was the father of ten children, all of whom, with the exception of one, survive him. As one of the early settlers of the county he was quite well know to most of the older citizens and will be very well remembered by many of the younger ones.
