Born January 7, 1915 in Shelbina, Missouri, Howard was the son of Samuel and Dora Kidwell Bush. He married Irma A. Stockhecke on March 22, 1947 in Quincy. She survives. Mr. Bush was a graduate of Shelbina High School and was a longtime member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ in Quincy and in later years a member of the Church of the Palms Congregational United Church of Christ in Delray Beach, Florida. Howard was a very quiet man, devoted to his family and his country, serving in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Howard was employed by Trailways Bus System in Quincy for over 39 years. He retired in 1977 and moved to Boynton Beach, Florida. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Irma; two sons, Doug Bush and his wife Ruth of Belleville, IL and Alan Bush and his wife Diana of The Village of Golf, Florida; and four grandchildren, Katie Gerdes (John Stoops) of Chicago, IL, Kara Koymen (Hakan) of Baltimore, MD, Kevin Bush (Elizabeth) of Delray Beach, FL and Kelly Owens (Ryan) of Durham, N.C. and several nephews. Mr. Bush was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers Walter, Charles and Roy Bush. Graveside services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Mendon Cemetery by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. There is no visitation but friends are invited to attend the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Abbey Delray South Foundation of Delray, Florida in care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy, IL 62301.
