The first body of a Greene county soldier who made the supreme sacrifice during the World War in France, arrived here Saturday evening. It was that of Walter L. Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Phillips, of Kuhntown. The casket was draped with a United States flag and a detachment of soldiers accompanioed the body, which was taken to the undertaking rooms of A. Furman Hoge.

On Monday the remains were interred in the Oakmont cemetery with full military honors. The American Legion and other military organizations took part. The services were conducted by the Rev. F. D. Esenwein, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church.

Mr. Phillips was a member of Company No. 531, Motor Truck Corps, and was taken ill while in France and died in a hospital there, His body was shipped home upon the request of his parents.
