Edith C. Whisonant
Edith Crigger Whisonant, 80, of 119 Wood St., Martinsville, died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Fries in Grayson County on May 18, 1924, to William Emmett Crigger and Rosie Bell Lloyd Crigger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry P. Whisonant; and four brothers, Ernest Crigger, Boyd Crigger, Munsey Crigger and Fred Crigger.
She retired from DuPont in 1985 after 28 years of service. A member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, she was active in the Friendship Club and was a member of the Kingdom Seekers Sunday School class.
Surviving are a son, Bill Whisonant of Horsepasture; a brother, Frank Crigger of Temple, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville.
Friends will be received from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
