JOHN HAYES DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

John Hayes, a prominent resident of Willow Hill, passed away at his home there Monday about midnight, after a long illness. He was born in Clay county, Indiana, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hayes, March 30, 1871. He came to Willow Hill when 15 years of age with his mother and step-father, Captain and Mrs. T. R. Miller, and has made his home there ever since.

Mr. Hayes was engaged in the poultry and produce business at Willow Hill for many years, retiring several years ago.

He was united in marriage to Miss Grace Biggs, June 7, 1902 and they were the parents of two children, Mrs. Chester (Bess) Race of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Eugene Hayes of Alhambra, California.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves two grand-children, Jimmy Hayes and John Race; one brother, Isaac Hayes of Douglas, Oklahoma; other relatives and friends. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at the family home in Willow Hill, Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock. Burial will be in Todd cemetery, with Cooper lodge, A.F. & A.M., of which he has been a member for many years, in charge of services at the grave. The Rev. H. C. Mendenhall of Willow Hill, and Elder Baker of Charleston will officiate.
