West lost its oldest citizen at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, when Frank Marak, Sr. died at the age of 97 in a Waco hospital. Survivors include 86 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Church of Assumption in West. Msgr. I.J. Valenta will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Thursday night at Aderhold-Moore Chapel in West.
Mr. Marak was born at Dubina in Fayette County. He had lived in the West area more than 75 years. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include one son, Frank Marak, Jr. of West; two daughters, Mrs. Albina Walla of West, and Mrs. Marie Jares of Yoakum; 28 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
