Homer Eads, one of the best known men in Southwest Texas, died suddenly of heart disease Sunday morning at his home, 418 Perelda street. He had been ill with la grippe for a week, but was thought to be recovering. While sitting by the fireside reading he felt a severe pain in his chest and was assisted to his bed by members of his family. A few moments later he died. The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the home under the direction of San Antonio Commanery No. 7, Knights Templar, of which order Mr. Eads had long been an active member. The active pallbearers chosen were: T. A. Coleman, D. J. Woodward, J. W. Kokernot, Dr. George H. Moody, Ted Milburn, Dr. A. C. McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers follow: J. S. Peter, C. C. Clamp, J. R. Jones, Jesse Oppenheimer, George Lupton, Frank Bushick, R. L. Ball, T. H. Pool, R. R. Russell, W. W. Collier, Sam Jordan, Dr. F. Paschal, J. H. Stevens, George W. Bartholomew, Joe Frost, P. H. Swearingen, Dr. Frederick Terrell, T. D. Cobbs, W. W. Sloan, Edwin H. Witte, J. F. Onion and E. D. Henry. Dr. Arthur G. Jones, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, conducted the services. Interment was made in City Cemetery No. 4. Mr. Eads was 56 years old, having been born October 21, 1859, in Sumter county, Alabama, but was brought by his parents to Texas in 1861. The surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Clara Eads; three children, Homer Eads, now in California; Ralph Eads, Encinal; Miss Helen Eads, San Antonio; a brother W. Q.
