Abingdon - M. Maxine Homer, 714 N. Main St., died at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday (April 28, 2004) in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born Feb. 7, 1927, near Ipava, the daughter of Carl and Mattie Smith.
She married William E. "Bill" Homer on Dec. 28, 1946, in Abingdon. He died July 6, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Keith Homer, Abingdon; two daughters, Patti (and Alan) Admire, rural Abingdon, and Nancy Homer-Ray (and Eric Olson), Abingdon; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Albin, Galesburg, and Donna Moore, Peoria; a brother, Loren Smith, Chillicothe; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1945.
She lived most of her adult life in Abingdon.
She worked as an assembler at Maytag in Galesburg, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. M. Annette Faull officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
