Loren W. Smith 90 of Peoria passed away Sunday September 30, 2012 at Heartland Healthcare in Peoria. Loren was born January 25, 1922 in Astoria, Illinois, the son of Carl N. Smith & Mattie M. (Smith) Smith.

He is survived by two sisters, Margery Albin of Galesburg, and Donna Moore of Spring Hill, FL.; four sons, Tony Smith of Knoxville, John (Karen) Smith of Gilson, Chuck (Jennifer) Smith of Gilson, and Andy Smith of Knoxville; one daughter Kim (Patrick) Hennifit of Watseka; also surviving his dear friend and companion of many years Audrey Weinberg.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one brother, and one sister.

He was a farmer in the area until his retirement in 1985. He was also a I.D.O.T. highway worker for 16 years. He was also a member of Central Illinois Farm Heritage Tractor club.

Loren was an Army veteran and recipient of the Soldier of Metal & Purple Heart after being wounded in action in Germany while serving in the European theater of war during WWII.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of ashes will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
