The son of David and Sarah (Jenkins) Campbell. He married Sudie E. Wheatley , Nov. 9, 1881. In the early 1920's he married Bertha Wise.

Oliver P. Campbell, 80 years of age, life-long resident of Tipton, died at Beechwood hospital Friday morning at 4:15. Death ended an illness of many months, he having spent the past several months in hospitals. Death was caused by uremic poisoning from a kidney trouble which would not yield to treatment.

For many years O.P.Campbell had been prominently identified with the business interests of this city and county, being a member of the Fear-Campbell and Company, dealers in poultry and eggs, and the firm has been a prominent one.

Mr. Campbell was born on a farm in Jefferson township, near the town of Normanda, his parents being David and Sarah (Jenkins) Campbell and he had never lived outside the county.

He was twice married, his first wife being a daughter of Francis H. Wheatley, a pioneer of this county, the Wheatley homestead on Road 28, recently being remodeled by the present owner, Roscoe Samuels.

One son, Hugh Campbell of New York City, survives that union.

The first wife died at the family home on North Independence Street many years ago and several years ago he married a second time to Mrs. Bertha Chavey, widow of Fred Chavey, former Nickel Plate passenger conductor, and they continued to reside on North Independence street.

Besides the son and widow, there is one brother, Tipton D. Campbell, residing near Normanda. Mr.Campbell was a member of the Tipton Lodge of Elks and several other organizations and a member of the Kemp Methodist church. He was formerly an officer of the First National Bank of Tipton and a man prominent in all affairs of this community.

The body was taken to the Leatherman-Morris funeral home on North Main street where it will remain and friends may call their at any time. Saturday morning after 10:00, the body will lie in state at the home, 222 North Independence street, until the hour of service and friends are invited to call at the home.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:00 Monday afternoon, with the Rev. True S. Hadduck of the Kemp Memorial Methodist church officiating. Following the service, the body will be place in a crypt in the Tipton mausoleum.
