Sarah Mary is the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Ann (Stafford) Jenkins. She was known by family and friends as Mary. In 1837 (when she was 18 years old) her parents moved to Indiana. They came down the Monongahela River and later the Ohio River in a rudely constructed flatboat. They reached Madison, IN where Sarah's father, Thomas, was taken ill with fever and died. Sarah's Mother continued on with their journey and took the children to Johnson Co., IN
Sarah married David FM Campbell, March 5, 1840 in Brown Co., IN. They had 11 children: Mariah, Newton, Thomas R., John Q., James J., Elizabeth C., William, Oliver P., Sarah Frances, Tipton David, and Julia O.
Sarah's husband, David, was a farmer and raised stock. They obtained some of their land by squatting on it before the government could survey the land in 1846.

Mary died of paralysis. She was "78y-10m-29d" at the time of her death.
