Private 203514, 1st Sherwood Foresters Notts & Derby Regt. Died from tuberculosis on 13th November 1918, aged 26. Husband of Emma Chell, of Station St., Ashbourne. Buried at Ashbourne Cemetery, Derbyshire. His brother Sam Chell also died from tuberculosis contracted in the army and is also buried in Ashbourne Cemetery. His brother Joseph was killed in action at Armentieres, France in 1916.
