Third of five children of Abraham Elkes and Jennie Olshanitsky, immigrants from Bialystock, Russia. Nathan was born in NYC and married Claire Klepper on June 4, 1933 in NYC. They had five children: Herbert (died in infancy), Arline, Brenda, Daryl and Alvin. They moved to South Florida in the mid 1950's.
Nat drove a linen truck for many years until his retirement. Upon retiring, Claire and Nat moved to Cape Coral where they were very active in the synagogue there. They enjoyed annual vacations in Hendersonville, NC. Nat was also an avid gardner. He also enjoyed taking his grandsons to wrestling matches and fishing.
Five weeks after celebrating their golden wedding anniversary, Nat passed of a massive heart attack at the young age of 73. He was survived by his wife, four children, and grandchildren Ronald, Gary, Judi, Lisa, Glenn, Duane and Daniel and great grandchildren Brandi and Billy.
