Joseph was the only child to attend his father, Thomas', estate sale in Chowan Co., on 8/11/1783. The Will was from the Chowan, Co., Will book, vol ll, 10/1/1768.

Joseph, planter of Bertie, Co., deeded 100 acres to his son William. In 1870, the Bertie, Co., census stated 2 males over 16, 4 males under 16, and 6 females. His will was made 7/21/1789.
