Deceased Name: Carolyn Wallace Adams
SAVANNAH - Carolyn W. Adams, 71, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at Candler Hospital with family and friends with her.

She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but moved with her family at a very young age to Savannah, where she resided until present.

She was a graduate of Commercial High School with the class of 1956.

Carolyn met her husband Jack in Savannah, but traveled with him extensively while he served his country in the United States Marines for over 20 years.

Carolyn was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

She retired from Gulfstream Aero Space, where she worked in the accounting department. Carolyn also worked for Dr. Harold Black dentist office and Kelly Tours.

Among her joys, Carolyn loved to serve others by volunteering with several organizations; St. Joseph/Candler Hospital Auxiliary, where she spent the majority of her time at the front desk, Hospice of Savannah, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross while traveling at the many military bases that she and Jack were stationed, the USO at the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport as well as with the deployment and redeployment of troops at Hunter Army Airfield, and Smart Senior. Carolyn was also a very active supporter of the Marine Corps League, Savannah Detachment 564 and "Dog" Company of which Jack was a member.

She was a member of the Huntington Ladies Club.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mattie Lou and Julian Hall Wallace, two sons, Jack Tracy and Michael David Adams, two brothers, Robert and Wesley Wallace and a sister Charlotte W. Carpenter.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack R. Adams, a brother, James C. Wallace and wife Margaret of North Augusta, SC., several nieces and nephews and great nephews and great nieces. She is also survived by her step-mother, Gladys Wallace of Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Funeral services were Monday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church with interment in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family extends special thanks to the ICU nurses at Candler, Select Specialty Hospital and the doctors who cared for Carolyn.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be sent to Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church or Hospice
