Lloyd Brittain Died Friday

Lloyd Brittain of Winterset, a retired Madison county farmer and Winterset business man, died Friday, March 3, at Horton Nursing home here. He was 84 years of age.

Mr. Brittain was a member of a well-known Madison county family. He was born here May 4, 1887, a son of Seth and Lucie Farris Brittain. Fifty-eight years of his life were spent in Madison county. During his active years he engaged in farming and was in the Standard Parts business.

Surviving are five children, Paul Brittain, Mrs. Fern Day and Mrs. Cleo Kirkland, all of Winterset, Gerald Brittain of Corning, Mrs. Patricia Lewis of Parkville, Mo., and Sharon Brittain of Kansas City, Mo. One son, Alvin Brittain, preceded him in death.

He also leaves 22 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sister, Mrs. Mary Allen and Mrs. Lois Clark of Winterset; and a foster brother, Albert DeWitt of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Lon K. Reising. Burial was made in the North McDonald cemetery.
