Ada Johnston age 85, a resident of Bridgeport for more than 70 years, entered into eternal rest, Monday, November 23, 2009 at Northbridge Health Care Center in Bridgeport. Born January 10, 1924 in Lax, Ga., to the late Oscar Edwards and Lovly Philips. She was a member of Prayer Tabernacle Church of Love in Bridgeport. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, George W. Johnston III of New Haven; daughters; Mayda O. Johnston of Bridgeport, and Beverly Amosah of Worcester, Mass; a sister, Eloise (Calvin) Butts of Long Island, NY, seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Prayer Tabernacle of Church of Love, 1243 Stratford Avenue, Bridgeport. Service will begin at 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10 a.m. in Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Lester Gee Funeral Home 1390 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport.
