Mariah May, daughter of James and Lucinda White, was born December 7, 1864. and passed away at her home a few miles north of Lancaster, Mo., Tuesday, August 11, 1936, age 71 years, 8 months and 4 days.

She was united in marriage to Thos. J. Turner, September 4, 1884. To this union was born five children: Charley of Brasher, Mo., Lester of Downing, Mo., Edna and Ecil of Davenport, Iowa. Forrest preceded her in death seven years ago last January and her husband five years ago last January.

She leaves to mourn her four children, seven grandchildren, two brothers, Dora White of Coatsville, Mo., and C. W. White of Lancaster, one sister, Mrs. Zella Hird of Lancaster, Mo, besides many other relatives and friends. She was one of a family of 19 children, 6 dying in infancy. Four half sisters also preceded her in death, Mrs. Eliza Klein, Rettie Reed, Frona Crim and Sarah Newton, two brothers, John H. White and James White and two grandchildren, Martha Evans and Clara Followell.

She confessed her Savior when young and placed her membership in the Christian church at Lancaster 26 years ago. She was born on a farm near Liberty church northwest of Lancaster and lived in Schuyler County all her life except for two years. She and her husband purchased the farm where she lived at the time of her death 42 years ago. She was industrious and was a lover of her home and her children. She was a good neighbor and friend. She had been in poor health for several months.

Funeral services were held at Liberty church, Friday, August 14, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Robert Seath assisted by Rev. Thurman Andrews. Interment was in the Liberty cemetery beside the body of her husband.
