She was born in 1927 and was preceded in death by her mother, Rosalie (Carpenter) Mattox; step-father, Earl Mattox; and brother, Merritt Cunningham.
Formerly a lifelong resident of Lancaster, Ohio, Elaine is survived by her husband, Todd Akin; daughter, Claudia Akin of Westerville, Ohio; son, Dain (Sherrille) Akin of Westerville, Ohio; and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Todd Akin; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Cunningham of Lancaster, Ohio and sister-in-law, Rosemary (Leonard) Hajost, Lancaster, Ohio.
Elaine was a homemaker and loving mother. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, Ohio. This summer Elaine and Todd celebrated their 59th wedding anniversity. She was a longtime member of the Lancaster Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. She loved to read and enjoyed gardening.
Mother you will be deeply missed but we know you are at home with the Lord.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 22 North Broad Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009.
Friends may call one hour prior to the Memorial Service to be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 222 North Broad Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130. A reception will be held immediately after the Memorial Service. A private burial will take place in Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio.
