John Carr was born on 5 September 1773. He was the son of James King Carr (1739 PA - 1782) and Hannah (Hobbs) Oglesby-Carr (1739 SC - 1775).. He married Sarah Cage on 22 November 1791, in Sumner Co., Tennessee. They were the parents of fifteen children. He lived in Sumner Co., Tennessee in 1850. He died on 31 December 1858, in Gallatin, Sumner Co., Tennessee, at the age of 85, and was buried in Bethpage, Sumner Co., Tennessee.
