HONOR IS PAID TO MIKE SALEVURAKIS
No longer cortege has ever followed a body to its last resting place in Price than that formed by the friends of Emanuel Salevurakis last Sunday. Mike, as he was commonly known, ranked high among his countrymen in Carbon county and also stood well with the business community in general. Many Americans attended the services. E, M. Salevurakis was born in Crete thirty nine years ago. He came to America when twenty years of age and to Carbon county eight years ago. Here he had always been law abiding and progressive. He did much for his countrymen who had not so good a knowledge of American ways and business and always urged them to become good Americans. He was one of the leaders in the organization of the Greek Orthodox church and gave liberally of his time and money to secure the recent handsome church home for the Greeks of this community. Father Mark Petrakis, first Greek priest in the community, came from St. Louis to conduct the services. Other speakers were Stylian Staos and Steve Mokakos, a business man of Salt Lake City. All spoke most highly of the decedent and his life in this community. Mr. Salevurakis was married nearly four years ago to Sophia Xenakis of Helper. One baby died and a baby boy survives with the widow. Four brothers and a sister are also left in this country and an aged father in Greece.
