"STEVENS POINT DAILY JOURNAL, Saturday, April 17, 1937, Page 3: Mrs. L. W. Alvord
Mrs. L. W. Alvord, 621 Ellis street, a resident of Stevens Point for many years, died Friday night at 7 o'clock at St. Michael's hospital where she had been a patient for a week. She had been in ill health for the past year and a week ago pneumonia developed.
Mrs. Alvord, whose maiden name was Theresa C. Gustin, was born on May 31, 1860, a daughter of H. B. and Sarah Gustin. She was married to Daniel E. Stevens on May 6, 1878, after which she continued to reside in Plainfield. Mr. Stevens died on August 25, 1884. Her marriage to Mr. Alvord took place on July 4, 1892. The couple continued to live at Plainfield after their marriage and in 1892 moved to Stevens Point. Mr. Alvord, now retired, was employed by the Wisconsin Central and Soo Line railroads as a bridge and building foreman for many years.
Mrs. Alvord was a member of the Rebekah lodge and attended the Baptist church.
Surviving are her husband, a son, Arthur J. Stevens of Wild Rose, and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Alvord home and at 1:30 o'clock at the Baptist church. Rev. Robert Gray will officiate and burial will follow in the Plainfield cemetery. The body was taken this afternoon from the Boston funeral home to the family home where it will remain until the time of the funeral."
