Former Chugiak resident Theodore ''Ted'' Sidor, 80, died of cancer Feb. 20, 1996, at the Serenity Home in Anchorage. A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church of Birchwood with the Rev. Robert Chadwick officiating. Visitation was at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel. A graveside service was held at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave Schade, Erick Salazar, Lowell Sidor, Nicholas Sidor and Harry Sidor.

Born June 2, 1915, in Duvernay, Alberta, Mr. Sidor had graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in 1944 and from Toronto Missionary Medical Institute. He had resided in Alaska since 1948, living in Anchorage, Chugiak, Kodiak and the Aleutians. Mr. Sidor had worked as a missionary, carpenter and millwright. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Birchwood and the Slavic Gospel Association. He enjoyed playing the accordion, singing, and radio and television repair. The family said: ''Ted was interested in education for family members. He was independent and hard working, and was interested in the well-being of others. He was a very private and humble man in his mission work.''

Mr. Sidor is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Nicholas and Elizabeth, and Harry and Lucy, all of Edmonton, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the First Baptist Church of Birchwood, P.O. Box 670489, Chugiak 99567-0489.
