At 4:50 o’clock Thursday morning, December 29, in peace and quietness the death angel unlocked the portals of beautiful Elysium to the spirit of Sarah Oliver to roam the golden streets of New Jerusalem through the endless ages of eternity.
She was the child of Samuel and Parthena Minear. She was born in the state of Iowa, August 26, 1847, and came to Missouri as a small child where she grew to womanhood.
On Dec. 24, 1865 she was united in marriage to John Oliver. To this union 8 children were born. Her husband and two children have preceded her in death.
Those left to mourn her death are William Oliver, Josie Shacklett, Nate Oliver, Dean Lyberger, all of Jimtown, Mo., and Mary Boggs of Queen City and 14 grand children, a number of great grand children, a brother John Minear of Livonia, two sisters Dean Bragg of Gibbs, Mo., Sirene Davis of Sedalia, Mo., a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sister Oliver became converted in early womanhood and united with the United Brethren church and was faithful in her Father’s service until her death.
To know her was to love her, she was a friend to everyone and a great lover of her home and children.
Funeral services were conducted at the Jimtown church by Rev. P. M. Lind and burial was in the Jimtown cemetery.
