Walter "Doc" Hendrickson, 90, Heritage Manor and formerly 241 E. Mechanic Street, died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday at the Major Hospital, where he had been admitted Saturday.
A retired custodian at Addison Township School, Mr. Hendrickson had also been employed at Shelby Manufacturing Co. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion and the West Street United Methodist Church.
A son of Thomas and Mary Ellen (Hatton) Hendrickson, he was born March 12, 1892 in Geneva. He was married in 1916 in Shelby County to Etta Rush, who died April 2, 1951.
Surviving are children, Mrs. Norma J. Huff, Mrs. George (Bernice) Tucker, Mrs. George (Mary) Baker and Paul Hendrickson, all of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A daughter and son preceded in death as did six brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Murphy Mortuary, with the Rev. Everett Wright officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion.
