In Loving Memory of my Mother,
Joan Roy
(March 3, 1927- August 16, 2009)

I Dreamt I Spent The Day With You Again.

The morning rain was beating on my bedroom's window pane.
A cold, damp day was dawning, but I was still so far away.
Warm comfort had enveloped me, and Life held no dismay.
I dreamt I spent the day with you again.

You appeared in all your splendour, with sunhat, purse and cane.
We walked along the Boardwalk, on a perfect summer's day,
then rested on your park bench, as the world just passed our way.
I dreamt I spent the day with you again.

And next we shopped in all the stores. The sales were ours to gain.
We stopped to eat our favourite foods. You wouldn't let me pay.
Then off we strode, both arm-in-arm, re-energized to play.
I dreamt I spent the day with you again.

It seemed so realistic, as we rode the subway train.
We talked and laughed above the noise. We both had lots to say.
Back at your home, with fresh brown bread, for hours I did stay.
I dreamt I spent the day with you again.

Instilled in vivid detail, as a movie might ingrain,
our Souls had had a visit, in my sleep, as I did lay.
And as I woke, in faithful hope, I prayed to once more say;
I dreamt I spent the day with you…again.

With Eternal Love,
Barry
