"William Haynes sailed from London Jan. 8, 1685 on board the BETTY, James May Captian. He made his will April 1st 1712 in which he mentions his daughters, Elizabeth wife of John Bartlett and Isabel the wife of Samuel Hanford. The property mentioned in the will was devided Nov. 8, 1749."

This statement of William's emigration is widely copied, however, the 'Betty' sailed from the West of England, not from London, transporting convicts to Barbados, presumably because of the Monmouth Rebellion. This other William Hayne or Haynes has nothing to do with Norwalk, Conn.
