He was born in Pulaski County May 3, 1921, the son of the late Columbus and Gertie Leigh Calhoun. He was a farmer, Army veteran of World War II during the North Africa Campaign, and a member and deacon of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Hunley Calhoun, whom he married Dec. 25, 1945, in Science Hill; four sons, Donald, Randy and Eddie Calhoun, all of Nancy, and David Calhoun, Somerset; two daughters, Carol Daulton, Somerset, and Debbie Zimmerman, Summerville, S.C.; a sister, Juanita Daulton, Southport, Ind.; four half sisters; Bonnie Hinkle, Hamilton,Ohio, Ruby Tarter, Dayton, Ohio, Virginia Henderson and Eugena Calhoun, both of Nancy; and four grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Denzil Calhoun; a half brother, Herbert Calhoun; and a half sister, Reginia Calhoun.
Services will be Friday, Jan. 6 at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Harlan Avera officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. tomorrow at Pulaski Funeral Home.
