BLANDING Deacon Bonnie Blanding, age 88, of Bridgeport entered eternal rest Friday, November 20, 2009 at Bridgeport Hospital . Born in Dalzell, SC he had been a resident of Bridgeport for 62 years. He was employed as a custodian with Sikorsky twenty years and the City of Bridgeport as a Custodian also for twenty years. Mr. Blanding was honorably discharged from the Army where he served during World War II. He was the head Deacon at Antioch PAFA Church of the First Born, member of the Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher and active in the Community Outreach Programs. He was predeceased by his son, Bonnie Blanding, Jr. brother, Isaac Blanding; and sister; Emma Williams. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mattie Burkett Blanding of Bridgeport; two sons, Reginald (Jenette) English of Virginia; and Bynum (Rosalyn) Blanding of Bridgeport; five daughters, Dorothy (William) English of New York; Dolores Blanding of California; Juliette (Joseph) Rascoe of Bridgeport; Geraldine (William) Ford of OH and Mattie Blanding of Bridgeport; one brother, Willie Blanding of Pennsylvia;; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Local funeral services will be held Friday 11a.m. at Morton's Mortuary Chapel, 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport. Interment will take place Tuesday at High Hills Baptist Church in Dalzell, SC following a service there. Friends are invited to the viewing Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
