Mrs. Abram Darnell [Susannah (Owen) Darnell], in the 75th year of her age, died at the family residence, near the Fox River on Monday December 28, 1855. The funeral was attended from the house on Wednesday, Rev. Kenney, of Plano, officiating. Mrs. Darnell has lived on that farm for fifty years, removing from North Carolina to
Marxhall [sic] County, IL, shortly after her marriage in 1831, and moving on to this farm in 1835. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn the breaking up of these family ties. She was a most estimable lady, her house and heart always being open to all. Bereaved family and a large circle of friends are left to mourn her loss.
